Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 15 years old
- Jump into water totally submerge and swim 150 yards using front crawl or breaststroke
- Tread water above surface for 2 mins
- Swim 50 yards; front crawl or breaststroke
- Start in water, swim 20 yards (no goggles)
- Submerge 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 pound brick
- Swim 20 yards on back with the brick, face above the water returning to starting point
- Exit the water without using ladder or steps.
